Operating Systems & Hardware

The Client/Server Solution of fORM runs on Windows XP, NT or Windows 2000 Professional Edition as the operating system. It is a thick client application as all data viewed by the client is downloaded to the local machine before it can be worked on. Performance of fORM therefore is dictated by the hardware that the application is running on.

Users require the following as minimum specifications:

Pentium II 400MHz or higher
256MB of RAM or higher(1)
100MB of free disk space
Windows NT4 / 2000 / XP
Microsoft Office 97 or later.
Screen resolution 1024 x 768 pixels

High level users who will be working on organisation wide reviews may therefore need to use higher specification machines than low level users, to ensure performance does not deteriorate when larger review files are opened and manipulated.

Server Hardware & Software

The server hardware requirement is significantly impacted by the number of users and other uses of the network and server. The recommended configuration is for moderate number of users (approx. 25).

Servers require the following as minimum specifications:

Pentium Processor III 800Mhz
256 MB of RAM
20GB of free disk space
NT4/2000/XP

Network
Ethernet Network recommended. 10MB/sec network connection recommended.

Software
The server requires an ODBC compliant database. The database server must be compliant with ODBC version 3. We recommend Microsoft SQL Server version 7 or later. We have also tested and approved ORACLE version 8i. The server operates as a data repository only, no server process is required beyond a database server.

In addition to the application, the client machine requires ODBC drivers compatible with the database's server. For more details refer to the database supplier.
